Arjun Ready For a Holiday |
I know I've been away for a year plus.... but Hey the good news Im a Mom now... and I had to give Travelling a little break.
This time I went to the City of Hospitality Bangkok with Little Arjun my 6 Month bundle of JOY!
All Set and Ready to Fly |
So it was Arjun's first trip across the seas from Kuala Lumpr to Bangkok and he was such an Angel. Despite a short distance the whole ordeal of packing our bags, getting to the airport up untill flying was a litle scary at 1st. But i told myself that i was never this worried when it came to traveling with my nieces and we have travelled a fair bit but when it comes to your 6 month old baby i guess the table turns.
Well where do i begin... being a breastfeeding Mom it automatically becomes super easy to travel with an infant. You dont have to worry aobut carrying any form of liquid and tonnes of containers with baby milk. All I needed in my Baby Bag were diapers, wet wipes, a change or two of clothes and you are good to go.
I booked us in a hotel that was near to Malls and public transportation. That was the most important thing given the crazy traffic in Bangkok. The Centre Point chain in Bangkok are service apartments and are really good if you are traveling with kids. The rooms are spacious and big enough to fit 4 people. The beds were super comfy and most importantly, it was really clean! It had a salt water pool and a childrens play area which is perfect for kids too.
The 1st thing i was worried about were the roads in Bangkok as I always remembered it to be a not so even. Obviously i didnt want to bring my huge stroller which weighed 8kg's so i set out to buy a really cheap and light stroller that only weighed 2.9 kg's and it worked for me.
The Light Weight Stroller |
Arjun and I along with Grandma set out to work the streets of Bangkok by foot and sometimes by taxi. It was all in all an exciting experience traveling with my little man. Ive been several times to Bangkok and was very familiar with its culture and traditions and places to eat and of course shop. So it was easier with knowing restaurants that were baby friendly and Mall's that were nice and air conditioned.
Arjun was so well behaved he let us do a little sigh seeing and a little shopping too....When it came to food he was as intrigued as his mummy and I still managed to try the local delights and had a chance to chill and unwind with a couple of drinks with my mom and dad ...
Champagne & Oysters |
We found out that we could go to Asiatique to witness the Loy Kratong festivities so we set out to the other side of town and was stuck in horrendous traffic for 2 hours and Arjun was a little cranky but it was not to bad i managed to feed him but it was asking for too much for a baby to be cooked up in a car that long that was even moving much. As long as you are entertaining the little one with some songs and funny faces he is a happy baby really. I feel so blessed at times.
The crowd was crazy. But we had our flowers in our hands and we walked the crowd and waited in line till we were able to offer our respect to the Goddess herself. It was a great experience watching the Thais waiting enthusiatically to offer their flowers.
I was on the verge of giving up because it was getting a tad bit too hot and everyone was pushing around but we waited and Arjun was kind enough not to scream and yell. He was observing everything and everyone around and of course his main aim was to grab the flowers....
Luckily for Grandad a friend we bumped into we succeded in lighting ours and said a little prayer.
It was a fun filled evening with the little one in tow. Dinner and drinks and we were ready for bed.
It was a great experience with the little bubba onboard this time for sure. Although it was a completely different one. There are things that you can do when you are a travelling mom and there are things you cant but hey you are still travelling and you are opening the eyes of your little munchkin right from the very start.
